He didn't intend for those firstborn sons to be sacrificed to Him (as He demonstrated in the story of Abraham and Isaac), He provided an easy way to "buy back" a firstborn via animal sacrifice, so that it was still clear that you were giving up/dedicating something to God, but not your actual kid.

? Of course not. There are several spots in the pentateuch where Jehovah clearly insists on human sacrifice. This is one of them. The whole business with Jesus was about God requiring a human sacrifice - it's what Christianity is basically about.
