About Me
The Accuracy International Arctic Warfare rifle is a bolt-action sniper rifle designed and manufactured by the British company Accuracy International. It has proved popular as a civilian, police, and military rifle since its introduction in the 1980s. The rifles have some features that improve performance in very cold conditions (which gave the rifle its name) without impairing operation in less extreme conditions. The AWP is a version intended for use by law enforcement as opposed to military, with AWP standing for Arctic Warfare Police. The most notable feature is that the distinctive frame is black instead of light green. It also has a shorter 24 in (610 mm) barrel than the AW model. The AWP is normally chambered for 7.62×51mm NATO/.308 Winchester or .243 Winchester ammunition, though it can be chambered for other cartridges.
The "AWP" version is most often found in the 7.62×51mm NATO (.308) caliber, with a box magazine (usually holding 10 rounds), a barrel length of ~610mm, and an effective range of approximately 800m; the AW family also includes magnum variants (AWM) in .300 Win Mag and .338 Lapua, reaching ranges of 1-1.5km. Valued for its reliability, ergonomics, and excellent accuracy at long ranges.

Technical Data:
Caliber: 7.62×51mm NATO (.308 Winchester)

Weapon length: ≈ 1,180 mm (approx. 46–47 inches)

Barrel length: ≈ 610 mm (24 inches)

Weight: ≈ 6.5 kg (without optics and ammunition) — typically between 6.1–6.9 kg

Magazine: Detachable AICS box magazine, standard 10 rounds (for .308)

Rate of fire: Bolt-action — no cyclic ROF; Practical rate of fire depends on the shooter, typically 10–15 rounds/min with accurate, sustained fire.

Fire modes: Single-shot (bolt-action)

Effective range: ~800 m (practical, for 7.62x51 mm) — magnum variants (AWM .300/.338) reach significantly greater ranges (up to ~1200–1500 m depending on ammunition)
