The Greks only started eating a "med diet" because of population explosions and new grain farming centers in sicily and ukraine. Beforehand they were more pastoral and ate a lot of pork and mutton

@Sectionalism: isnt the maymay you posted pro carbs althougheverbeit? also, My post earlier was going against the idea that south euros only eat carbs. iberians and north italians eat loads of pork and dairy, while south italians eat large amounts of fish, lamb, and pork. the only real pure grain food is pasta, but thats only in southern italy. veggies are largely eaten as a side dish, live every other dish in europe.

I agree with your assessment of modern South Euros, in Italy they eat a lot of fish and pork and I noticed this on my vacation there. I don't know where people got the idea that meds don't eat meat
