Okay I am genuinely inclined to see your reasoning, for 2 reasons.
1. Many prominent islamic scholars have said denying she was 9 is in itself wrong.
2. Is she 19 when the marriage was first proposed or after the marriage? I am confused
1. Yeah, well, different scholars can have different perspectives.
2. She was 19 WHEN the marriage was first proposed, yeah. You can read the doc.
What do you think of the hadith saying she met Muhammad at age 6 and was married at 9? Do you think it is incorrect, misquoted or weak?
Sahih al-Bukhari 6130
I used to play with the dolls in the presence of the Prophet, and my girl friends also used to play with me. When Allah's Messenger (salla Allah `alayhi wa-sallam) used to enter (my dwelling place) they used to hide themselves, but the Prophet would call them to join and play with me. (The playing with the dolls and similar images is forbidden, but it was allowed for `Aisha at that time, as she was a little girl, not yet reached the age of puberty.) (Fath-ul-Bari page 143, Vol.13)
@OrientalTrollface: I think THAT part of the hadith is weak due to the timeline that verified and trusted historians have put, which would put Aisha RA's age at about 19.
I am reading the document but i'm already confused, like what proves Hisham ibn `Urwa and narrators who say she is 9 are liars? It just says they are unreliable with no explanation.
@Chud: You're welcome, brother.
