1.6.4 was the last decent release of release minecraft, 1.7.10 messed up the terrain and made oceans far smaller, not to mention shrunk caves. 1.7 and 1.8 also started the trend of the game runming more ans more like abaolute

*absolute raisin, but 1.7.10 like 1.12.2 have so many mods that can literally fix them they are the best versions of the game when it comes to a modded experience. 1.8.9 on the other hand is nice if you want to still pvp as it happens to have the most classic pvp servers of any pre raisin combat version. Anything past 1.12.2 started to perform like crap. I'll say I like some aspects of 1.13 and up, but the ugly person music combined with the fluff and the total asthetic change of the game will always make them overall crap.

1.7.10 - last simplistic version, mod buildup fixes the issues
1.8 - last notch version before sale to microsmelly person
1.8.9 - last truly fun version
