Chud4: @Chud: imagine comparison python to rust when python is a 30 y.o. established language written by a dutch chud and rust is made by ugly personzilla for other ugly people
Chud6: I fucking love Python3. They gotta get their version compatibility raisin figured out though. I don't know why they'd rollout type annotations the way they have over several versions
Chud17: @Chud: It borrows some nice features from functional languages (discriminated unions and pattern matching are very useful), the borrow checker is nice and the type system is just miles ahead of the one in C, but writing anything serious in Rust still requires you to use unsafe, so all of the above doesn't matter all that much. If it wasn't for obnoxious ugly people, I would totally write in Rust, especially since GNURS is a thing now.
Chud30(29): @Chud: Think of a synthesis. Many good projects use Python overall but then if they're doing something with a performance bottleneck they write that part as a C/C++ library imported to Python. C/C++ pieces glued together with Python is a good way to go in most cases.
