astartes are quick to react (much quicker than an average human) and actually pretty smart though, they don't just stand like statues to be demolished
and their armor ensures killing them with a grenade is problematic

meth and roids deteriorate the user quickly, especially when consumed on a regular basis
and even then your average human can't reach the same performance as astartes
not to mention astartes are expected to dodge missiles, not to catch those with their faces (except for terminators, maybe)
