After being granted authority in accordance with the New Testament, they inspired by the Holy Spirit decided which practices would best serve the mission of spreading the Gospel, and after theological councils and debates, it was concluded that this particular practice could be reformed by allowing the use of images solely to teach the Word to the illiterate, since they could not read the Scriptures. That is why today we have many illustrations of the Bible around the world, and as far as I know, no one worships them, as is the case with the saints. Also, whenever you quote a Bible verse, please avoid taking it from Protestant Bibles.
