Savoy was given to them because they lost the war againts France (Italy campaign of 1996-1997). Tbh I do agree with some of his political views (Mainly traditionalism) but others ones (like Ultramontanism (aka bow down to the pope) and Royalism (WE GUNNA BE KINGZ AND SHIEEEEEEEET)) just makes him unlikable. And while he was the founder of conservatism's, this was mainly about keeping Royalty in France at the time (which also bowed down to the pope see a pattern?).<\/div><\/blockquote>Ultramontanism and royalism is why i like him in particular.
Also ultramontanism isn't something theological about how much we should listen to the Pope, but rather political regarding the authority of the pope on governments<\/div><\/blockquote>That's the same thing, if the pope has any political authority outside of its own country\/gouverment. That means that people are listening (and most like HAVE to listen to him.)

GEEEEEEEEEG. Savoy was annexed in 1792 (Snopes : https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1792_French_annexation_of_Savoy) same year Joseph left the country. Tbh I will admit 1 fuckup in that it wasn't a war (Atleast not until 1796) but more of an invasion since war wasn't declared at that time but saying they were giving this land as a reward for military assistance is insane
