Aryan or ārya, in Sanskrit, is a self-description, indicating ethno-cultural belonging. The word originally stems from the Proto-Indo-European language. Later uses for places such as Alania (*Aryāna) and Iran (*Aryānām) are not its origin and neither is the general usage by speakers of Sanskrit. (Note the asterisk, it indicates that these are reconstructions, not attested to in writing.)
Knowing that earlier use for the word likely also indicates belonging to a group, we can infer that it may have originally referenced a homeland or ethnographic belonging, near our linguistic reconstruction horizon for PIE, at around 6000-8000 years ago, just as (*Aryānām) did later on.
And this is where we deviate from the mainstream.
Let's assume the following: The R1b founders of the EEF Tepe-cultures (9500 - 8000 BCE) were MWP1b (9600 BCE) refugees from the Atlantic coast, who moved back to their home, only for it to be flooded again in the devastating Storegga tsunamis (approximately 6225 - 6170 BCE), causing those that lived in Silverpit, Doggerbank (Atlantis) to relocate to the continent (Aesir branch), Britain (druid Oannes branch) and South towards Morocco (Osirian branch) - which caused the turmoil and war where the Yamnaya reinvented themselves as horselords (Loki/Luwians) (3300–2600 BC) as an outcome of this internal refugee crisis of the Northern European steppe.
Make sense so far?
So holding all of this in mind, we can trace the geographic origin of the word aryan all the way back to Northwestern/Atlantic Europe, to a place and time stricken with two floods and frequent migrations, representing the oldest possible time frame for reconstructions of the PIE language, beyond which everything is meaningless speculation.
What do we find at this place now? A country called Ireland or Éire, genitive Éireann, dative Éirinn, from which the poetic version of Éire, Erin, derives. Éire stemming from old Irish Ériu, archaic Irish *Īweriū, Proto-Celtic *Φīwerjon- (nominative singular *Φīwerjū) and Proto-Indo-European *piHwer- / *peih₁wer-, meaning "to be fat/fertile".
Notice the stunning linguistic similarities to the Sanskrit word ārya.
But here things fall apart, because the root of this word is not typically reconstructed as *piHwer- / *peih₁wer-, but as *h₂er-, meaning: "to put together, to fit" and *h₂eryós, meaning: "member of one's own group".
While this is a problem, it should be mentioned that these words are all unattested and that the common academic scholar of the subject is more than disinterested in any alternative theory being true and would likely attempt to suppress it, if it was true.
It is noteworthy that the Irish heroes Érimón and Airem and the Gaulish personal name Ariomanus, are considered by many experts to be cognates. That is to say that they are related, having a common origin to the word aryan. Also, Scholars like Matasović attest the old Irish version of the word aryan as Celtic: *aryo-, 'freeman; noble'; or perhaps from *prio- ('first > prominent, eminent'), Gaulish: ario-, 'freeman, lord; foremost',^{Old Irish: aire, 'freeman, chief; noble'. For me, this seems to suggest a semantic merger of the words aire and ériu at a minimum, considering the later forms, with simple geographical differences in societal structure and their constituents self-images reflected in the meaning and usage of the word aire.
Regardless, I find the entire discussion highly biased and suspect.
Truly one can only learn so much about Atlantic European history, before one begins to question the common narrative.}
