Composed after 222 years of death of Prophet Muhammad (s).
Number of hadiths collected by Imam Bukhari = 600,000 hadiths.
Number of hadiths rejected by Imam Bukhari = 592,725 hadiths.
Number of hadiths selected by Imam Bukhari = 7,275 hadiths.
Hadiths rejected by assumptions = 99%
Hadiths accepted by assumptions = 1%
Imam Bukhari rejected 99 % of what he collected and called it pure lies and fabrication and accepted only 1 %.
Was he infallible like messengers ? No
Was he divinely guided by Allah in his work? No
So what is his criterion of assuming a hadith right or wrong ?
Answer - Personal assumptions.
why personal assumptions?
Because,
There was no public library of hadiths as hadiths were burned and banned at the time of four caliphs and was not recorded till first 250 years after Prophet's departing of world. (why that's another long answer)
There was no Internet database like Google drive at that time.
(mainly.....)
Imam Bukhari assumes according to him which narrators are not liars and which hadith can be considered authentic and which narrators are liars and hadith is false.
Now,
(Just calculate the mathematical and rational probability of Imam Bukhari of being wrong in some of hadiths among that 1% too)
and what authority he is of Islam?
(I have absolutely no idea how anyone can assume who is liar and who is not from first narrator in the time of Prophet Muhammad who existed 250 years ago to last narrator who was alive at the time of Bukhari)
(I can't even tell you today while living in world of modern information age that a person who lived in 1817 is liar or truthful lest the chain of narrators from 1817 to 2017 | can you?)

I get that he looks funny cause he's got greedy personish genes but he's pretty obviously white, and if you don't accept that you're anti-white
1. Criticizing a narration = rejecting ilm al-rijal as a whole
No Shia scholar claims Bukhari "made things up" or that isnad criticism is meaningless. The disagreement is whether Bukhari's methodology is infallible or whether every narration he accepted is beyond reevaluation.
Even Sunni scholars themselves reject many narrations in Sahih al-Bukhari:
* al-Daraqutni explicitly critiqued dozens of Bukhari narrations
* Ibn Hajar admits some reports are sahih by isnad yet problematic in content
So saying "criticizing this narration invalidates all pre-modern history" is a false dilemma. Pre-modern history is assessed using multiple independent sources, chronology, and corroboration, not blind acceptance of a single report.
Hadith authenticity means:
"This chain meets technical criteria"
-not-
"This event is historically certain beyond contradiction"
History works differently.
When multiple early reports contradict a single isolated narration, historians must reassess.
Even using Sunni sources only:
* Asma' bint Abi Bakr was 10 years older than Aisha
* Asma' died at 100 AH at age 100
* This places Aisha at 17-19 at marriage, not 6-9
Additionally:
* Aisha is recorded as remembering pre-Islamic events
* She participated in early Meccan history, inconsistent with being a toddler
These reports are earlier, broader, and historically coherent, unlike the isolated Iraqi narration.
It simply means hadith grading is not the same as historical certainty, and even Sunni scholars acknowledge this distinction.
holy raisin I don't know how trevor tolerates the windowlicking speds seething on him 24/7 @Chud:
