Bronze and the ancient age

Why did the ancient civilizations of the Near East need a whole collapse of two civilizations and dark ages for the rest to get the iron melting technologies? It's said that some African civilizations (specifically, black ones, not arabs) went straight from the atone age to the iron age (But much later, however). What's the reason?

Why did it take people so long to master the mass smelting of iron?

it’s a complex process and it’s applications weren’t immediate so pipo just didn’t care about it much. however, at one point, once enough people realized it was useful and understood how to make it, it spread everywhere. IMO
