Historically the taínos mostly lived near the coasts, but nowadays the most taíno ancestry here is concentrated near the mountains and tall hills

Although in all the Hispanic Antilles the majority paternal lineage origin is Western European (slightly less in the Dominican Republic but it still is the majority there), the majority maternal lineage origin in Puerto Rico is Native, with the majority maternal lineage origin in the Dominican Republic and Cuba being West African instead.
