Hello, I just saw that Senetor voting is happening right now so I thought I shall explain my case on why you should vote for me.
Many of you probably won't know who I am, especially if you're a newer user, because I generally prefer to lurk rather than constantly post. Even so, I'm almost always around and active behind the scenes, and that's how I like it. Some of you may also know me from the 'ki, where I currently serve as a moderator.
As a moderator, I've gained experience dealing with the day-to-day issues that affect the community: resolving disputes, enforcing the rules consistently, and thinking about how decisions made today will affect the site months down the road. I try to approach problems calmly, objectively, and in good faith rather than reacting emotionally. I also enjoy helping people, no matter how small the issue may seem. If you've interacted with me before, you'll know that's simply part of who I am.
Although my moderation experience has mostly been on the 'ki, I previously served as a janny here on the 'ru through the visa program shortly after it was introduced, before the role was eventually removed. Because of that, I've had the opportunity to work with both communities, and I strongly believe the 'ki and the 'ru should maintain a close relationship. The 'ki already serves as the primary place for documenting SoyBooru-related information, and I think both communities benefit when they work together instead of drifting apart. If elected, one of the things I'd like to see is the return of the 'ki–'ru visa program. In fact, I already have an really good relationship with all of the users there, even with users that are an bit leaky.
I believe the Senate should exist not to ignore the community's voice, but to make sure major changes are carefully considered discussing with everyone before they become permanent through the administration. Good governance isn't about making the fastest decision, it's about making the right one. Thanks to my experience as a moderator, I've already built a good working relationship with Mustard and Cobblestone, which I believe will help facilitate productive discussion whenever issues aris. I also know several of the approvers and moderators who consistently work hard for the good of the booru, so I think they would be an great fit in my senate.
I don't expect everyone to agree with every decision I make, but I can promise most certainly that every vote I cast will be made in good faith neutral way, after carefully considering both the immediate effects and the long-term health of the community.
If elected, I'll evaluate every referendum on its own merits in a fair and impartial manner. I generally prefer not to be leaky, because I've found that leaking often encourages more leaking, which ultimately hurts productive discussion. Instead, I'll focus on whether a proposal genuinely improves the site, whether it creates unintended consequences, whether it could be abused, and whether it's something we'll still believe was a good idea six months from now.
