if a poll

  • gets 100 or more votes
  • has a 75% majority
  • adds, removes, or amends a properly formatted rule

    • To add a properly formatted rule, you must write the entire rule as it will appear on the rules page, along with any subclauses. The punishment can also be defined. Example:

Rule 17: No commenting or posting past midnight:

  • Commenting between 2 AM - 4 AM UTC -> Delete -> 1 day -> 3 days -> 1 week -> 1 month -> perma

  • Posting between 2 AM - 4 AM UTC -> Permanent

  • Exception: Commenting or posting between 2:45 AM - 2:50 AM -> Do nothing

  • NO retroactive rule applications (i.e a new ban won't let you delete old posts, or ban someone for something they did before the rule)
  • referendums MUST be anonymous
  • after a poll reaches 100 votes, it is closed and tallied 24 hours later
  • polls must NOT have expiry times
  • if a poll fails, it has a 2 week cooldown period before it can be recreated

then that change will be implemented to the the ruleset and jannies have to follow it.

new referendum rule: polls must NOT have expiry times. this doesn't apply to polls added before this rule.
you should implement a two-week cooldown period for recreating failed referendums :cat:
I don't really see a need for this. Nobody's obsessed enough to put in the time learning how to properly format an addendum (as seen by looking through the metadiscussions page) and then constantly recreating it. And besides, they can just do the next best thing.

I don’t wanna see the same poll 300 times because sore losers can’t accept that no one cares to implement stupid bullshit . We have sore loser laws irl for this purpose

referendum polls all end 24 hours after they get 100 votes. this is just because you never know when they'll reach 100 votes

is there any way to extend the deadline beyond 24 hours even if the referendum reaches over 100 votes?

the moment it hits 100 votes, the 24 hour countdown starts

I understand that, I am saying if there is a way to extend this countdown even if the poll has reached 100 votes
