if it truly is him trying to prevent them from being groomed, i see no reason to prevent it unless these people were, more or less, his friends. or, perhaps, he sees them as "valuable" and would not want to lose them. in any situation, friend or not, this is a hard thing to do, it is not an easy job to save someone from being groomed. then again, why is this the only place they can go to? is there nowhere else they could be contacted? it's a weird situation.
