Homepage and Interface

Instructions before all

the archive will be a separate category, to store occult posts from all the other categories. it should NOT:

• replace the trash which is only visible for jannies + posts stored there are deleted after some time, i presume;
  
• be found anywhere other than the home page.
  

archive posts should only be found inside the archive category. it should NOT be found anywhere outside said category, that is:

• member's profiles, either ops or people who comment on these;
  
• search results in any other category;
  
• gallery page;
  
• forum page;
  
• members page.
  

Interface

the archive category interface should look something like this:

• a gallery section, composed by a title ("Archived Gallery") on the upper left side above all the images shown. on its side, there will be a page explorer (the < 1/χγζ > thing that appears everywhere. χγζ is the number of pages that will appear). the images will be ordered in two lines, separated by 4 columns (means 2:4). inside the imageboxes, there's gonna be the author AND the post's date below each image, just like the gallery category interface;
  
• below the archived gallery, sits the archive forum. only made up by 4 lines in one column. like the archived galery, there will be a title ("Archived Forum") above the threads area on the upperleft side, and in the upper right side, a page explorer;
  
• on the right/left side of these above, there’s gonna be the "most controversial gallery post" replacing the daily jak, which i will explain later;
  
• a search bar, which i will explain after this one;

Search Bar

the search bar is a tool for you who don't want to use the page explorers. since there is a reason the main forum and the main gallery are in separate spaces, here's how it's going to work:

• the search results will show BOTH the archived gallery and the archived forum, for it searches for words in the description too;
  
• to search for tags, you can use {}, //, [], <>, or other special tags (it's up to you, devs). this will hide forum threads in the search results;
  
• to search for specific thread that used to be in a subcategory (general, blogposting, media, etc.), use boorum:___, followed by the forum subcategory name, or something else like a keyword. this will hide gallery posts in the search results.
  

Archived Gallery

in the archived GALLERY posts, members (be the OP's, jannies, mods, or someone else) VVILL NOT be able to:

• upvote;
  
• react;
  
• favorite;
  
• watch;
  
• nor comment.
  

BUT they can report said archived post, so it can be moved to the trash and subject to be deleted. gallery items will be subject to archive if:

• they are severely reported BEFORE archiving;
  
• the OP was banned permanently;
  
• there's more downvotes than upvotes;
  
• it's considered "controversial";
  
• it received less than 3 reppies;
  
• there's no comments.
  

archived gallery items cannot be unarchived, and jannies are rulebreaking it if they unarchive it because someone asked.
the gallery posts must be shown from most recent in a left-to-right order, but “most controversial” should be the first place instead of the most recently archived.

Archived Forum

in the archived FORUM threads, members VVILL NOT be able to:

• react;
  
• reply;
  
• and watch.
  

BUT they can report said archived post, so it can be moved to the trash and subject to deletion. forum threads will be subject to archive if:

• they are severely reported BEFORE archiving;
  
• the OP was banned permanently;
  
• it's considered "controversial";
  
• there's less than 3 replies.
  

the threads must be shown from most recent in north-to-south order, but “most controversial” should be on top.

Controverse submechanic

a post can be considered controversial if, and ONLY if:

• the op has more enemies than friends, or a negative reaction score;
  
• it has more comments than upvotes;
  
• there’s “negative” emojis spammed in the reactions;
  
• the op was banned.
  

this mechanic can be discarded, since it may be too complicated to code and dumb in practice. remind you that this whole thing should be automated. THE CONTROVERSE SUBMECHANIC IS ONLY A OPTIONAL FEATURE! YOU CAN ADD IT AFTER THE ARCHIVE MECHANIC IS INTRODUCED! TAKE A REST IF YOU WILL.

so, where do i start?

<can be used to hide namefag dramas, avoid members to ask staff to delete posts for them, and warrior-z can silence supreme indirectly (or vice-versa).
>why would [the commoners] like this?
<well, they wont! actually, some gems are hidden by some anonymous posters, so it may or may not highlight your threads/posts after a while. but the controverse mechanic can be abused during country-wars, for those who despise your neighbors.
>can everyone see it?
<chuds should not see the archive category in soybooru’s homepage. the archive category should not even show up in google’s search results for the sake of rescuing this website’s damned reputation.
>do you know what you’re talking about?
<sort of. i have computing classes at a federal institute DAILY, but the subject is usually python, not java, so i may not know how nubooru works, making all this idea nuts. if it’s easy to code this feature or not, i’d suggest the devs to work as a team to do it, not only one person alone.

<only jannies can see what’s in the trash + content over there is deleted over time. the archive, however, doesn’t delete content over time, and everyone WHO’S LOGGED IN can see it and browse it.
>does this mean posts whose OP is banned (finocide, thub, etc.) will be hidden and only found in the archive?
<well… sort of. i expect some instructions to be ignored so upvoted posts are ALWAYS visible. but since most banned users’ posts get way downvoted, most of them will be hidden.
>can i archive my posts/threads?
<no. archiving should be automated and not done by a human person like us. if you wish people to not look at them, wait for 3 days.
>can i unarchive my posts/threads?
<unarchiving gallery posts is NOT possible in any way. for threads, in the other hand, someone else has to reply, not (You). but again, past 3 days with no more than 6 replies, it will get archived again. don’t worry, it should NOT apply to profile comments or pinned threads.
>does the gallery/forum have their own page/redirect?
<no. as instructed before, the archive should only be accessed via homepage, not anywhere else. the archived gallery, forum, and search result pages should be in the same screen. the only redirect is to the post/thread itself, but you won't do anything in it because, well, it's archived.
>can i embed an archived item?
<you can share the item's link and post it everywhere (creating the second doorway i want you so much to avoid), but you can't embed archived media. this is to avoid cacas spamming george from peppa pig powerscaling, and spam in general, too.
