The guy who has posted most of the soyjak gifs people use on instagram is some unapologetic zarty user o algo. I dmed xhim once and xhe told me that when xhe filled in the "portfolio website" portion of the application for a Giphy creator account (required for your gifs to be searchable and used on instagram comment sections) xhe just put a link to xhis instagram account (albeit with the same 5 gifs that xhe already had on xhis giphy account (also required for the application)). Basically, you don't need to make a whole ass art portfolio website to have your gifs show up in instagram comment sections.

Now I don't know about you but I don't want what's possibly the largest exporter of soyjak kulchur by view count right now to be controlled by heckin' offsiters stealing our gems. Would it be that much of a hassle to just make an official soybooru janny-run giphy account and blow this zellig dude out of the water? Even if we're too scared that the booru might be too chuddy to use as a portfolio website that some indian has to glance at, we can literally just make an instagram account and link the portfolio to that in the application.

When it comes to actually getting to uploading our soyjak catalog, maybe we could bot it? With maybe some vibecoded Claude Cowork thing or something? Idk I don't know how to program. I don't imagine it'd be fun to convert most of our 175k+ posts into GIFs and then upload them manually. Also we would need to single out which gifs are acceptable for instagram. We can't have anything with porn/nsfw, slurs, or racist caricatures uploaded to giphy lest we get raped. I'd imagine if you botted it the bot would be able to differentiate acceptable posts by just scanning tags but not every post on this website is properly tagged (at least for our purposes). The other alternative would be to just pick and choose soyjaks at random and upload them manually without going down a specific list, but this would be a very slow pace and I don't imagine more than one person would have access to this account.

My personal opinion is that it shouldn't be a problem to obtain a site-sanctioned giphy creator account, and I don't think mass uploads from this website onto giphy is an impossible feat. I just wanna throw this idea out there. I mainly just think it'd be good for us stability-wise to have some control of OUR soyjaks that are being used off-site. If any jannies/admins read this and feel it's too obsessed and attentionwhored, at least for right now, then that's whatever. But I at least want everyone to know that this option is on the table for us.
