The protagonist is an illegal immigrant, unemployed, commits crimes non-stop the moment he gets off the boat, and still has the audacity to constantly talk crap about the host country and insist immigrants like him should be tolerated, and the game gets away with it because he's white.

plus niko is both a bad person and shown to be a victim of circumstance. one of his goals with immigrating was to escape his life of crime and war, but he's immediately thrust back into it because roman lied to him about everything and owes money to serious criminals. he does kill vlad in a rage for fucking roman's girlfriend and doesnt expect retaliation from the russian mob for some reason, but everything that happens after that is just the snowballing consequences of what happened before, and no matter which ending you choose he immediately rights his path for good once he finally faces real consequences

on one mission you need to kill a fudgepacker (i used a knife for that one btw) and on other mission you needed to protect a flamboyant person from the hecking homophobes o algx

That's not "both sides of the coin", even in Brucie's mission you killing that guy for him was to satirize how insecure Brucie is, it's literally the "you only hate homosexual people because you're closeted" argument, both missions are making fun of homophobes.
