fl studio is the best daw for actually writing songs btw
its the modern day sheet music and piano

i tried using it once when i started out and i was too idiotic to figure out how to do stuff in it, it was way faster for me to pick up reaper when i discovered it. as interesting as it is to discuss which one is better, i think daw wars are kind of pointless since all of them serve the exact same purpose but provide different workflows

honestly i used to run mt but at this point its a total meme so any prod who hears it knows its amateurish, still figuring out how the hell i can mix my e kit with nothing but a champ 20 amp

well yeah i can imagine someone who's serious about audio mixing/ engineering would see it that way but i dont see myself going into that level of music production. it works for me so its raisin i dont care about
i wish i had the space and bux for real drums though, being a drummer looks fun

reaper is amazing at recording but it looks like ass and i dont like fucking with it
i like something lean and pretty that just works
thats very important when I do pretty much EVERYTHING in the daw, including writing and composition
being able to see every part and how they overlap in one pattern is a godsend for harmony, counterpoint, etc.
while technically a producer, im not really big on programming
i love weird glitchy idm sounds but theyre too time consuming and monotonous to make

Addictive Drums 2 is pretty good
most of the presets are too processed for my tastes but you can remove all the built in stuff and route each mic signal out individually to process it yourself

im gonna be honest yeah some of the older reaper visual snapshots (like before version7) did look atrocious to me, and skins/themes didnt really help with it either. i'd say it's a lot better now though
on that note of seeing how things interact and overlap with each other in the daw, the majority of me composing happens outside of reaper using tonelibjam (music notation program mostly aimed at guitarists), and then i export the midi tracks into reaper and go from there on mixing and applying plugins, so this isnt really something that applies to me

i see
im a vocalist/songwriter (trying to learn keys) so I don't necessarily have an instrument to write with
fl studio makes visualizing the music really easy
tried learning ableton to make some IDM but the piano roll was atrocious
i see why people primarily use it for EDM and pop production
