Desktop apps:
Davinci Resolve is a very powerful editing tool that has an excellent free version, the premium version is not worth getting unless you really want specific features. It feels like a blend of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audiobooth all rolled into one program. Very powerful, works best with an Nvidia GPU as it has CUDA-accelerated features and encoding options.
Pros: Works on Linux but requires some fiddling to get it to work on distros that are not Linux Rocky Linux 8.6 or CentOS 7.3, generally works on everything though.
Very powerful, intuitive UI, loaded with features and AI-powered tools that make your life easier.
AI-powered mask tool will save you hours on turning assets into something you can put on a greenscreen, can eliminate the need for keying altogether with how effective it is.
Cons: Very overbearing for those who have never done any video editing, not ideal for simple and fast edits. Strong Nvidia bias means that Intel and AMD GPUs will not have the same benefits.
Proprietary, this may bother you if you are a freetard who demands everything be FOSS.
Tutorials for older versions may not be entirely usable for later versions of the program due to UI changes.
Exporting can be complicated to newcomers as it has a tendency to export at the highest resolution and bitrates, not suitable for non-production videos, though you can just create a template for exporting that does not export everything at 4k60fps @ 50 megabytes per second.
Video 1: An example showing the AI-powered upscaling and framerate increasing, the video was lengthened by a few seconds, upscaled to 4k60fps, downscaled to 768p48fps and compressed efficiently to maintain a very high quality clip.
Video 2: Example showcasing the AI-powered masking abilities, also using the same AI-powered frame smoothing technology to fool you into thinking the gigachad video is longer than the original.
