monke is actually fucking garbage to work with, i don't think any of them know how to program ive had to rely on /tg/ for better fixes
can you please tell me why monke redefines top level variables in /mob already, then makes a comment saying "TODO FIXME BECAUSE I AM RETARDED"
can you tell me why they're blindly taking tgui code and shoving it in there, solar panels didn't work cause tgui_data() was reporting the wrong shit

I agree with you on bay, and it lacks content (but that's why it's good for heckin roleplay! soyak.png).
Monkie is really gay and arcadey anyway. I remember the solar panel issue on Sharty Station too. I have used TGUI, and it's a bit tough to get into (albeit they have documentation), so I can imagine that they were just too dumb to figure it out.
TG is the best imo but they shot themselves in the foot with their updates since... idk 2001-2002. The Eris Station inspired cartoon sprites are ass too.
/vg/ was too antiquated for me to enjoy so it would be great if there was something between /vg/ and /tg/ but there isn't anything like that up to date. I see why you chose /vg/ it's just disappointing.

TGUI is just a glorified react wrapper
the one we had was way too out of date and i despise yarn, but upstream was so fucking broken as well (around the time there was the icons not showing up on tgui) there's also the mysterious accident of accents not showing up on linux (huh, i wonder how that happened it was working perfectly fine before!)
TG has been removing features in hopes to make it more retard friendly, literally like how space station 14 barely has any of the content because they're trying to reinvent the wheel and make the game more """easier""" despite the original goal being a remake of the full space station 13 game which made the game really annoying to play
i was considering doing old tg code but there's vulnerabilities i am 100% sure i can't fix
i could try and see if some sprites on /vg/ could be changed there's still a lot i want to try and do to the codebase

Does /vg/ work on linux? I assume it does because it shouldn't have tgui.

I don't think it's your version of byond. I'm quite sure that's a universal problem. I'll see when I try to join this rendition of Sharty Station.
