Let's say that one day I'm bored of earthly existence and want to spend my life in prayer. But instead of going to a monastery, I want to live alone in some cave with just Bible and other religious texts. What do I do to achieve it? How do I survive without the need to interact with people? And what if someone (e.g. family or friends) wants to find me? I'm mostly afraid not of the wilderness, but of the fact that the police will find me and put me in a madhouse because apparently wanting to live by yourself in the wild and pray is le bad but working for mr Schlomo and paying 1488 euros of taxes so he can buy more goy blood is le good. Please offer any advice.This is a serious question

Sometimes I feel the same way too. Don't think anyone would come looking for me if I disappeared. Living outside of society would be very hard to adapt to, but it would be possible; the main question is whether you'd be more fulfilled living alone forever. You could try taking less hours if possible if you are too stressed out. I hope everything is gonna be alright

Thank you. I don't want to die, I want to keep living above all, because I'm panically scared of death. But living a life like the one I'm currently living is tiring, and I really want to be closer to God. I don't consider myself stressed or anything like that doe. The hermit lifestyle is a form of monasticism that requires strict spiritual training and experience to be attempted. You must be tonsured a monk before you even think of living as a hermit ascetic, and even after being tonsured you will have to grow in the faith for potentially decades before receiving a blessing from your abbot to live as a hermit. It isn't a lifestyle that you choose "just because you want to be surrounded by nature", rather it's a life style that one picks up ONLY to strengthen their relationship with God and reach theosis (what we call deificiation).
Hermits live in a constant state of prayer and can only survive if they are mentally and spiritually strong, or else they will be tempted by demons and led astray. The life of a monk / hermit is one of many demonic attacks, not just spiritual but many hermits physically wrestle and fight demons. It's not just 'hey, I want to live in the woods, let me become a hermit', you can just do that anyways as a regular person.

In Orthodoxy we condemn the desire to 'live by yourself' out of selfish ambition. Here are your options, marriage (surrounded by your family) or monasticism (surrounded by your spiritual brothers). Even a hermit is not really alone, since he's surrounded by Christ, the saints and his guardian angel. He can usually see them too

As outlined above, I really do want to live it to strengthen my connection with God and not just because I want to eat grass in the forest. Thank you for the extensive answer. I am also Orthodox (Greek award), and I don't see anything selfish. If my job position disappears tomorrow, people won't be inconvenienced by a lack of services I provide. My parents have children besides me, so they have somneone to rely on in old age. As of marriage, although I have a girlfriend, both her and mine parents may not anpoorve the marriage.
