i get the same issue, im not sure why? the pattern of when and how im messaged makes me think these are legitimate user messages, but that they're somehow getting black holed by the system and now only show as notifications
really annoying issue, for all i know it predates the redesign since my previous bio was "message me 'jak requests!" and not ONE person messaged me a 'jak request in 4 years

I had a similar thing happen to me the day of the redesign. I chalked it up to some testing by the jannies, to see if notifications/messages could be delivered at scalei get the same issue, im not sure why? the pattern of when and how im messaged makes me think these are legitimate user messages, but that they're somehow getting black holed by the system and now only show as notifications
