Imagine you have a wife. You and her have had a loving relationship for many years, but then one day you come across a secret stash in her room; it is a box filled with photos of pears. When asked about it, she will get oddly defensive, and say she has always hated pears, and she only had the photos to remind herself of how disgusting she found pears, and she really doesn't like pears at all. She says she doesn't even really think about pears anymore, and she hasn't opened the box in years. She is adamant about this and will get very angry if you question her.
