i was going to install gentoo but it was acting up. it took me like 20 minutes because my hardware was BRUTALLY BVLLING my arch install and it wouldnt connect to wifi, so i had to go back into the arch installer and reset my password (I forgot it) and then install needed network utils and then actually start installing shit. im gonna use LXQt but if you soys can think of something better than that i will consider giving it a try

if anyone can help me with getting gentoo to actually work or giving me a viable guide, i'll probably just use gentoo

i would recommend xfce. i had the least problems with that especially on notebooks
xfces fine, I was gonna use LXQt. I'm switching to Plasma because it's relatively light and it'll work for my usecase. I have an HP laptop with 32 GB of ram and a semi-modern gen i3 so I don't think I'll run into very many problems. The hardware I mentioned was for whatever reason my networking hardware being brappy with drivers n shiet, but this has sort of been the case when I tried Void and Alpine (dni horrible distro)

what's the difference? in my language these terms are interchangeable
Notebooks generally mean a lower powered laptop, think like a Chromebook
i just looked it up and realized i was wrong. you are right, but aren't chromebooks called netbooks?
yeah netbooks and notebooks is waht i was thinking of

Laptops are fucking useless anyway. Just buy the cheapest shittiest one you can find and remote desktop into your home PC for any real work.

They can be useful for privacy (e.g. separating one device from your daily driver) but I think also transport is useful. I'm on the move quite a bit and being able to use one just to watch YouTube and browse bald man with glasses website is convenient.

Good, 'ux is tanzanite o algo, ev&oe im nu'ux cvck and barely know shizzle I also switched to Arch beclause jewdOwS brapped and plapped my pc, oder algo, anyway isnt gentoo kinda worthless from what I understand?
Gentoo is fine from what I've heard, I think a lot of it's use is giving NEETs something to do given they have to compile things to download them from Portage and ETC, but it is about the best control over your system you can get as far as I know besides doing some LFS shit (funnily enough I've had a better time compiling the Linux kernel and using initramfs in qemu than installing Gentoo, but I digress). Arch is cool in my opinion for when you actually install it and not just use archinstall because you choose what you install and you learn a bit more about how a distro is installed. But maybe, just maybe, I'm schizophrenic and this is all fake.
