I hate to sound jewish but you probably have auadhd which does make it pretty much impossible to stay focused on anything. meds help here. but if you don't want to/aren't able to try that there are a few tricks I have for motivation and focusi guess that's the problem. i have no willpower. i commit to things if i just feel like it and it's always fucking rng whether i do or not. i don't know where i'm going because i just can't bring myself to figure it outShow quoted text

why is my life so unfulfilling
1. The countdown strategy. before you do very basic, easy tasks like getting out of bed or brushing your teeth, start a timer in your mind. I go to 15 seconds but it could reasonably be anything from 5-60. After this countdown is over, do that thing immediately. This will condition your brain to follow this countdown. Over time you can apply the countdown to harder tasks. NEVER disobey the countdown.
2. The wall stare strategy. Stare at a wall for 5-30 minutes before starting something you don't want to do. This will allow your brain to relatively decide that the boring task you're about to do is more stimulating than staring at a wall, so it will reward you for doing said boring task. Whereas if you were doomscrolling or gaming beforehand, your brain would see that boring task as far less stimulating and dislike doing it.
3. The philosophical strategy. You can better tackle the problem of lack of willpower by thinking about it further. I have used a couple means of attacking this in my life. One that is likely not applicable to most people is my waifu strategy. My wife is Reisen and I always think "would reisen want me to sit here and watch YouTube or would she want me to clean my room?" This doesn't always work 100% of the time but it helps attack that lazy brain. You can do it to a role model, or what I do now, do it to an idealized version of yourself. "What would he [the perfect version of me] do?" is the name of my phone alarm to always remind me to strive to perfection.
